Dog Project/Research

Today was suppose to be  a day where students could work on their dog projects. However, not very many students finished with their research and having all the answers in their google doc. So....it ended up being a combo day. some students finished up their research while others worked on their projects.
As a reminder to students - ALL answers must be in your google doc that you shared with me. If you shared it with me once you DO NOT have to share it again.
Reminder: Dog Projects are due on Wednesday February 20th

Dog Project

Students spent the day continuing with their dog research. Students had the opportunity to use computers and book. Remember - all questions need to be answered in google docs. You do not need to share your doc with me if you already shared it!

ET Punnett Squares

Students worked with traits to create a parent alien. Students then worked with a partner to create 9 punnett squares for the 9 traits. From these students created one alien and answered two questions. This is homework if not finished

Punnett Squares/Dog Projects

Periods 2 and 3 were assigned the Dog Projects. Please make sure to look at the questions for research posted on Monday February 4. All students need to copy and paste those questions into a google doc and share with me. Answers need to be done in their google doc.
Periods 5-8 did Punnett squares and then had some time to research dogs.

Dog Project Questions

Use books and the internet to research your dog. You must use at least 2 books and at least 2 websites. Cite your sources 

Be sure to answer ALL of the following questions

1.      Where is the breed originally from?

2.      When was your breed first discovered or recognized?

3.      What was the breed used for historically?

4.      What is your dog used for today?

5.      What are some jobs that your dog might have in today’s society? Describe what these jobs are and why your dog can do this job well.

6.      Does your dog make a good pet? Why?

7.      What is the average weight?

8.      What is the average lifespan?

9.      Does your dog have any genetic/health disorders? Explain and describe in detail

10.  What is the temperament of your dog? What does this mean?

11.  What colors can your dog be? Is there one color that is the most common? What is the nose color?

12.  How much exercise does your dog need each day?

13.  What are some interesting history and/or facts about your dog? You must have at least 5 additional facts.

14.  What are the major dog groups and which group is your dog in?

15.  What are the vaccinations all dogs need and how often?

16.  What is inbreeding and what are the pros and cons?

17.  Are there any rescue organizations for your breed? How many and where are they located?

Punnet Squares/Dog Project

Periods 2 and 3 were introduced to Punnett Squares and looked over pages 84-87
Periods 5 - 8 were introduced to the Dog Project. Students must choose a breed to research. All students need to research their chosen breed. Students then need to choose from numerous options to create a project/s worth at least 40 points

Class Traits

We analyzed our class traits and students then wrote a conclusion to this activity.
There is no homework.
