Brain teaser

Over half of my students were gone on the choir tour.
Students had to figure out how to cut an index card, with no free ends, so that they could fit through  it.

Students fired their rockets off. Each team got two launches and we recorded the best out of 2.

pH reading and questions and Tank Testing

Morning classes finished pH reading in book and then answered questions in their spirals.
Afternoon classes spent the day testing different tanks.

This morning students visited the career center so I did not have my morning classes.

Fish Tank Testing

Students did chemical tests on 3 tanks - trout tank, tropical tank and goldfish tank.

Fish tank chemicals

Students finished questions from yesterday's pH lab and turned it in.
Students then took notes on tank chemicals that they will be testing on Monday.

pH Lab

Students tested some kitchen and household products to determine the pH.
Students used pH paper and compared these results to using an indicator of cabbage juice.
Students were not able to participate if they didn't have the work from Monday.
Tomorrow is another lab and students will NOT be able to participate if they do not have Monday's work.

Acids and Bases

Students read about Acids and Bases in the science books.
Students took notes on what they read.

MontCAS testing and movie

Students tested in Periods 1-3
Afternoon classes watched a video and took notes

Polyatomic Naming

Review of naming in particular polyatomic ions.
Students practiced naming polyatomic compounds.
Students started a worksheet in class and need to finish it for homework!

Review Day

We reviewed Day 1-3 lab days - many careless mistakes were made and we needed to examine the causes.
Students then watched a short clip on the difference between chemical and physical change and took a few notes.
