Students finished up their 3rd engineering challenge and turned in ALL 3 today.
Today is the last day to retake the last test.
I will be gone ALL next week and will not be posting - so perfect behavior please!

Homework is if they did not finish their sheet, both sides, then that needs to be completed tonight.
Tomorrow I will collect BOTH engineering challenges that kids have done so far!

REMINDER: Students that need to retake test and/or hand in any missing work must do so by Friday of THIS week!!  So far two (2) students have come and talked to me :(

Students were broken into groups.
Each group was assigned a different engineering challenge: catapult, bridge, launch, raft or mobile.
All challenges are dealing with  peeps - in honor of our holiday coming up.

Students took a test on ionic and covalent bonding.

Study Guide Review

We reviewed the study guide.
Tomorrow is the test so STUDY tonight.
Tomorrow AM 7:30 - 8:00 I will have a study session in my room - come anytime

Chemistry Study Guide

Students had shortened classes. Today they worked on completing the study guide.
There will be a test on Tuesday.

Along with the below study guide there are 4 equations that students need to balance they are:

1.)  P₄ + O₂ à P₂O_3
2.)   CF₄ + Br₂ à CBr₄ +  F_2
3.)   N₂ + H₂ à  NH_3
4.)  CH₄ +  O₂ à CO₂ +  H₂O

Chemistry mini-stations

I was out sick yesterday so students finished watching the movie "Absolute Zero" that they started on Friday.
Today students continued rotating through the chemistry mini-stations.
There will be a test early next week.

Students continued their exploration of chemical reactions as they rotated through stations.
They will continue with this tomorrow.

Types of Chemical Reactions

Students finished types of Chemical Reactions.
Students then began the Chemistry mini-stations. Students only had time to work at one mini station.
We will continue with stations tomorrow and Wednesday,
There will be a test most likely on Friday.

Afterwards they completed a short worksheet on the five types

Chemistry naming kahoot

I only saw students in two period today.
Students took notes on polyatomic ions and then they played kahoot.
There is no homework.

Quiz and Chemistry experiment conclusion

Students took a quiz. I will take the best score between today's and Friday's quiz.
Students may retake this quiz by next Monday.
Students then looked at their experiments with steel wool that we started last week. They worked on their conclusion in class.

Review for quiz tomorrow

Today we reviewed all our notes to take a quiz tomorrow.
Students will need to know:
Oxidation #'s : what they are, how to determine them and how to write a chemical formula
Balancing equations
Naming chemical compounds paying particular attention to the transition metals with their use of roman numerals.
And all the elements that I have given so far - the first 36
