Egg Drop Conclusion Poster grading

Students used their rubrics to grade their peers works. Both the papers being graded and the graders are anonymous. This acitivity shows students how difficult it can be to grade even with a rubric and why they really need to pay attention to rubrics when given one.
Of course I will grade all papers and give the final grades!!

Spiral Set up and Scientific Summer Assignment

Students set up their spiral including 3 pages of Table of Contents. They then cut and glued their Multiple Intelligence Survey Results into their spirals.
Students received a copy of blog permission and the safety contract which MUST be signed by parents and is due on Wednesday.
Students received directions for Scientific Summer (below) which is due Wednesday September 5th NOT Friday August 20th like it says on the sheet!!!

At this moment in time we are NOT going to do the egg capsule because I have had so few students bring in their 2 liter bottle. I do not want to spend the rest of the year struggling with the the students to bring in their supplies. If the 2 liter bottle is not brought in tomorrow we will NOT do this activity

Spaghetti Tower Graph and Conclusion

Students calculated weight to strength ratio by dividing actual weight held by tower weight.
They then ranked them in order.
Students then graphed tower weight vs  weight held.
Lastly, students wrote a conclusion on the back of their graph.

Over the weekend, if you drink any pop from 2 liter bottles and have empty bottles please save and bring them in. We need them for our last activity of the year!

Students watched the TED talk on the Marshmallow Challenge.
They should have gotten two take aways 1. build prototypes testing as you go and 2. Triangles and other geometric shapes will be the strongest.
