Mitosis Worksheet

I was out of school yesterday.
Yesterday students spent the entire period completing a worksheet based on pages 55-62 which we read on Wednesday. Students also answered questions 1b, 2c, and the "writing in science" on pg 62.
This was homework if they didn't finish.

Today we corrected the worksheets
Students spent the rest of the period discussing their Mitosis projects which are due Monday February 10

Mitosis reading and video clips

Students read aloud about Mitosis pages 55-62.
Students were then shown some video clips of mitosis

The Mitosis Project is due Monday February 10.

Mitosis flip Books

Students finished their flip books.
We then watched some more examples of what could be done for the Mitosis Project

Students received mitosis flip books.
They drew and colored their drawings.
This is homework if it is not finished!

Mitosis

We discussed the answers to all the book questions the students have been working on the last few days.
Students then took notes about Mitosis on a hand out that I gave them.

Catch-up day

Students had the chance today to work on their onion/cheek cell lab sheet. If they needed to make another slide they could.
Students also had time to finish working on their questions.

These are homework if they were not completed during class

Cheek Cells and Book Questions

Today was very similar to yesterday except today students looked at their own cheek cells.
They then swapped and worked on their book questions.
There is no homework.

Onion Cells and Book Questions

Students created wet mount slides of onion cells and looked at them through microscopes.
Students also worked on all questions pg 37, all questions pg 39 and 11-17 pg 40
There is no homework.

Organelle Quiz

Students took a quiz on the organelles in a cell.
Students turned in their egg-speriment graph and conclusion
Students began work on answering the questions on page 37 about osmosis and diffusion.

Today was the last day of 2nd quarter - we are half way through 7th grade!

Cell Model Presentations

Students finished presenting their cell models today.
We then indulged in a piece of the edible cells!
There is no homework.

Cell Model Presentations

Wow! Fabulous cell models!
Students presented their cell models in class. Tomorrow we will finish with the presentations and then we will partake of the edibles!
There is no homework as long as students finished their graph that was assigned on Monday.

Egg-speriment graph

Students began work on graphing their mass, circumference and water left in cup.
Students should have about 5 minutes left of this assignment which they need to complete tonight.

Cell Projects due tomorrow!!

Egg-speriment

Students put their eggs in their own liquid today.
Students corrected their review sheet for cell organelles.
Students began reading pages 25-30 in their books.

Reminder: Cell Models are due on Tuesday January 14!

Egg-speriment

Students observed what happened to their egg after being in colored water. Today students put their egg in salt water to see what will happen.

Homework due Friday:
Students need to finish both sides of the worksheet "Looking inside cells".
One student from each egg group needs to bring in 150ml of a liquid of their choice.
Both of these assignments are due on Friday.

Egg-speriment Day 3

Students continued with the egg-speriment today taking the egg out of plain water and putting it into their choice of colored water.
Students also continued with their worksheet review and "cell city"
There is no homework.

Students took measurements on their eggs and then replaced the vinegar with plain water.
There is no homework.

Cell Model and Egg-speriment

Students received instructions to create their cell models today.
The cell model is due Tuesday January 14!

Today was day one for the egg-speriment in which we are using chicken eggs to model what the cell membrane does when exposed to certain liquids.

Students DO have homework which is to finish coloring their cell diagrams.
To access their cell books on-line their username should be firstname.lastname and their password  
should be science!. please check your emails guys to help you remember!

For a review students corrected their worksheets from the Thursday before break on cells and cell organelles. Students then continued with their cell coloring.
