Mixed Up Species

Students worked on their mixed up species today.
They needed to create a hybrid from two species, write a paragraph about it's traits and then draw a picture in color. Some students may have to finish this over the only Thanksgiving break.

Mixed Up Species

Students received their test. Any students with a D can correct their answers to bring their grade up.
We then read about Hybrid Species in Science World. Students will have to create and draw their own hybrid tomorrow.
There is no homework.

TEST

Students reviwed chapter one and then they took their test.

Review Questions

Students worked on answering 15 review questions. They can use notes, worksheets and the books for this. There will be a test tomorrow. There will be a review session starting at 7:30am.

Concept Maps

We finished and reviewed the concepts map together as a class.
Students then worked on a taxonomic key called Silly Science.
There will be a test on Friday over Chapter 1.
Homework would be to study that material using their notes, worksheets and books.

Concept Maps and Spruce seedlings

Students worked on several things.
Each class planted 2 blue spruce in pots. We will keep these indoors until the spring and then we will plant them outside.
Each student received a concept map, or flow chart, to complete. This is an excellent tool to use to study for the test that we will be having later this week on Chapter 1 in the Bacteria and Plant book.

Classification Poster Presentation

Students presented their Classification Poster to the class.
Some of these were outstanding! Way to go!

Chip Classification

Students worked as a group to create a flow chart to classify 9 different types of chips. These were turned in.
Homework: Finish classification poster. Due Monday

Domains and Kingdoms

Students read pages 26-29 in the Bacteria and Plants book. We then took some notes on each Domain.
Students had about 20 minutes to work on their classification poster which is due Monday November 18th.
We may have time to work on the poster in class tomorrow as well so students were instructed to bring it with them.
Homework: Any student that does NOT have their organism, the 8 classification levels, 2 pictures and at least one fact about their organism needs to research that tonight!

Classification Poster

Students began research for their classification poster. They will work on this poster today and will have some time tomorrow in class.
The poster must include:
Common name
Scientific name
Each level of classification including Domain
2 pictures minimum of their organism
1 unique fact
Posters must be neat. All pictures need to be in color regardless of  whether drawing or printing
This poster is due on Monday November 18.

online textbook

Students got there username and password for the online textbook. To access the on line textbook students can go under learning links and click science textbook.
Their username  should be: firstname.lastname
The password is: science!
If students cannot access the book then they need to come and see me ASAP so we can get them squared away!

Classification

Students worked to finish questions on classification. We then watched a video on classification. There is no homework. Have a great weekend!

Students had a half day with a shortened schedule. Students spent 20 minutes in my class working on answering questions about classification using their books. There is no homework.

Students read pages 16-20 in their Plant books. As they were reading they answered questions in their spirals. We will continue this tomorrow. There is no homework

Students finished Living vs Non-living questions. Those that didn't need to come in before or after school to complete.
